Dundee North End Jfc: Match Report v East Craigie
|Competition||League - East Region North Division|
|Result||East Craigie 1-3 Dundee North End Jfc|
|Date||Saturday 20 November 2010|
After a horrendous couple of days with torrential rain, no one was sure whether this weeks fixture would go ahead, luckily enough there was no early morning call off and the game kicked of as scheduled at 1.45pm. The team was run by Assistant Manager today, Derek Grier. The pitch was really heavy as the two teams started, both were in need of the three points, but it was North End who started brightly, they put East Craigie on the back foot from the off and only for there keeper making two wonderful saves, first from Scott McComiskie and then Ross Brown they would have been two down within the first twenty minutes, however....and this has been said game after game...it was not to be? Craigie's back four were doing enough to counter any North End attacks until Scott McComiskie gathered the ball from a cracking pass from Kieran Small, Scott (tin man) McComiskie danced through a couple of defenders and slotted the ball passed the keeper to make it 1-0 North End. The Dokens really should have marched on from here, as they were still well on top, but a couple of poor decisions and the tricky surface allowed E.C. back in when the scored an equaliser minutes from half time. 1-1 Half Time.
The second half started and the Dokens won a corner, again Scott McComiskie gathered the ball and layed it on for Darryl Gowans to smash in to the back of the net, 2-1 North End. from here on East Craigie didn't lie down they had there fair share of posession and started to create chances, The Dokens defence stood firm and with E.C. pushing forward they were able to counter attack on numerous occasions, but without causing too much trouble, later on in the second half The Dokens won another corner, it was curled in and Ross Browne jumped high and clinically finshed with a cracking header 3-1 The Dokens. East Craigie had a never give up attitude and were really unlucky a on a few occasions, however no more goals were scored and it finished East Craigie 1 North End 3 (Scorers: Scott McComiskie, Darryl Gowans, Ross Browne)
Stand in manager Derek Grier Said "I thought today's game was a typical East Craigie game, they battle hard from the off and never give up, the conditions were not ideal and the pitch was very heavy, which prevented good flowing football, at 2-1 E.C. were still in the game so our 3rd goal was very important, overall I am delighted with the 3 points after being off for a few weeks, it now sets us up well for the difficult ties ahead".
